Between growing up with educators playing a key part of my childhood and having children of my own, I have become keenly aware of the influence adults have in a child's life. It has become my mission and my passion to lead our community by empowering, supporting, and advocating for our youth.
For the last 11 years, I have led a group of almost a dozen young women as their Girl Scouts troop leader. I have had the privilege of essentially raising them through the Girl Scouts of America, standing by their side through the ups and downs of growing up. I have also had the opportunity to serve in higher leadership roles, broadening my scope and influence. Working with all of these young women has given me so much hope for our future.
The influence school teachers and administrators had in my own upbringing has inspired me to dedicate thousands of hours to the teachers and staff in the AISD by volunteering as a PTA member and leader. Not only have I served on the board in numerous capacities at Corey, Wood, Boles, Martin and our district's Council of PTAs, I have also acted as a mentor to countless other PTAs throughout our district. The partnership between teachers, parents, administrators, and community members is the most powerful way we can support our students, and I am incredibly proud of the partnerships I have gotten to be a part of over the last decade.
Serving as a Trustee will be one of the most challenging leadership roles I have ever sought to have, but it is also a role in which I believe I am highly qualified to serve. My number one priority is fostering a partnership with you, the stakeholders, so that we can provide a solid support system for the teachers, administrators, and students in our district. I am so eager to partner with each one of you when I am elected for Seat 7 on the AISD Board of Trustees.
